What to Expect

Sapphire Physical Therapy emphasizes a comprehensive therapeutic approach, utilizing manual therapy, patient education, therapeutic exercise, and pain reducing techniques to enhance the recovery of our patients and safely return them to pain free function in the shortest time possible. If you choose Sapphire as your rehabilitation provider, here’s what to expect along your journey to maximum recovery.

For your first appointment, please complete our patient forms and bring them with your insurance card or claim information and photo ID. Your healthcare provider may have also given you a referral form or prescription for physical therapy. If so, please bring that as well.

What to expect at your first appointment:

Your treatment at Sapphire PT begins with a focused evaluation, which includes health history and overall health assessment. A physical examination is then conducted to assess your range of motion, sensation awareness, pain levels, strength, and ability to perform specific functional tasks.

Goal Setting

Using information gathered during the evaluation, you and your therapist will establish a treatment plan and therapy goals designed to help you achieve recovery as quickly and safely as possible.

Your treatment program will initially focus on relieving your symptoms and stabilizing your condition. This will be accomplished using a wide range of interventions to facilitate necessary physical changes. Treatment then progresses to strengthening and regaining maximum movement and function. Exercise and strengthening programs are individually tailored to meet your goals and assist in this process. In addition, you will learn ways to prevent future problems and maintain health.

Since your understanding and participation are essential to achieving your treatment goals, you will be taught strategies to take control of your body and its healing process from day one. Education is an integral part of what we do. Expect to receive a home program that will include both flexibility and strengthening techniques.

Open communication is vital between you and your therapist, and we encourage you to ask questions during the course of your therapy.

Throughout treatment, you will gain valuable knowledge that empowers you to take control of your physical health and experience the best physical health life can offer.

What to Wear to Your PT Appointment

In order to make the most of your physical therapy sessions, we ask that you wear comfortable, loose fitting clothing; something that allows your physical therapist to access skin at your treatment site. Exercise clothing, such as sweats, t-shirts, and shorts work very well.

What You Can Do

Because you are the primary focus of our care, your active participation is essential to a successful rehabilitation program. The following guidelines are highly recommended to enhance the achievement of your goals:

  • Follow through with any prescribed home exercise programs
  • Report any significant changes in symptoms, medications, and function
  • Keep all scheduled appointments
  • Arrive on time to all appointments to provide maximum time with your therapist
